How to Choose the Right SmartCarry Holster Size

How to Choose the Right SmartCarry Holster Size

Finding the right holster starts with knowing your handgun’s exact model. SmartCarry offers different sizes to accommodate everything from small pocket pistols to full-size handguns, so you don’t have to guess which one to order.

Start with your exact handgun model

Before choosing a size, check your handgun’s manufacturer, model, and barrel length. Similar model names can describe different-sized handguns, so the full name matters.

The examples below are a starting point. Always check the sizing information on the specific SmartCarry product you’re considering.

Choose your holster style first

Start by choosing the SmartCarry style that suits your needs. You might prefer a Solo Carry option for your handgun or a gun-and-mag option with space for a spare magazine.

Any SmartCarry holster style can work with your handgun, as long as you choose the correct size. You don’t need to limit your style choice based on your handgun model.

Then select your handgun size

Extra Small: small pocket pistols

Our XS size fits small handguns such as the Ruger LCP, Smith & Wesson Bodyguard, and Kimber Micro 9.

Small: compact options with approximately 3-inch barrels

Our Small size fits handguns such as the SIG Sauer P365, Smith & Wesson Shield, and Glock 43.

Medium: approximately 3.5- to 4.45-inch barrels

Our Medium size accommodates models such as the Glock 19, P365XL, Shield Plus, compact 1911s, and Hellcat Pro.

Large: full-size handguns

Our Large size fits full-size models such as the Glock 17, P320 Full Size, Walther PDP Full Size, and full-size 1911s.

Select options for your accessories

Have a laser, light, or optic on your handgun? SmartCarry offers customization to accommodate those accessories, with laser/light and optic selections available right on the product page.

Select the options that match your setup when configuring your holster.

Measure where you’ll wear the holster

Your holster’s waistband measurement is separate from the size you choose for your handgun.

For the most accurate fit, measure around your hips just below your waistband and above your buttocks, where the holster will sit. This area is typically slightly larger than your waist, so use that measurement rather than relying on your usual waist or pants size.

What if your handgun isn’t listed?

The models above are examples, not a complete compatibility list. If you don’t see your handgun, that doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t fit.

If you’re still unsure of what size to select, just contact us with your exact handgun model along with details about any attached accessories. We’ll help you choose rather than leave you guessing.

Find the right fit for your setup

Choose your style, select the correct handgun size, pick any laser/light or optic options, and measure where you’ll wear the holster. Those steps will help you configure a SmartCarry holster for your handgun and your body.
