The Second Amendment is very short and clear to me. It reads:
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
The key word here is infringe. The word comes from Latin “infringere” which means “to damage, break off, break, or bruise”.
It seems logical to assume that our founding fathers meant to say that – our right to have guns is off limits for our government to prohibit or even restrict.
Despite this amendment, which is a national law, the states currently have laws as follows:
Regarding open carry of firearms, there are -
Looks like 18 states are in violation of the Second Amendment.
Regarding concealed carry of firearms, there are -
Looks like all 50 states are in violation of the Second Amendment.
Considering our last blog article, “Murder rate goes down as concealed carry goes up“, we may want to re-think this issue. By restricting the rights of law-abiding citizens to carry firearms, we are not only violating the American Bill of Rights, we are creating a country where citizens are unarmed, and only the criminals and police have guns.
