Charlie,
This is a posting that I recently placed on the S&W forum under the CCW section:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've had a Smartcarry for a while now and use it when an IWB is a little tough to use, like under a tight shirt. I use an IWB tuckable from Tucker and really love it. It's my main carry holster for my CS45 which is with me 24/7.
One day last week, I noticed that my supply of looser fitting shirts was all in the laundry so I grabbed the smartcarry. It always has been very comfortable but sometimes when I sit for long periods the muzzle of the 45 sorts pokes me in a tender spot and I get uncomfortable. That and the little 'roll' of my middle sorta makes gun access a little tough while sitting (other body shapes probably won't have this problem until they get old and flabby like me!).
Well, I decided to shift the Smartcarry to the right so that the gun is at about the 2-3 oclock position. VIOLA ! Now the gun is at the position I normally carry with my IWB, doesn't poke me, and is easier to get at - no flab there! Positioning it this way is extremely comfortable. The mfg suggests that you carry it low, below the belt line in front, it works at the side too when deep concealment is wanted. Wear the 'belt' a little tighter and higher and the butt of the gun is above your belt just like a normal IWB for quicker access. Going somewhere where the butt of the gun above the belt might be inconvenient?-- just push it down below the belt.
You can either tuck your shirt behind it like a normal IWB or over it like a tuckable IWB and since it's suspended by it's own 'belt' there is no belt clip to limit the depth of the 'tuck'. AND being made of padded cloth, it's extremely comfortable and soft. It also has a second pocket for your mag which 99% of the leather/kydex IWB don't have. When you walk the weight of the gun is supported by the 'belt' of the holster around your waist and the gun is not weighing down your pants or belt as with a normal IWB. AND as another benefit, when you use the 'throne', your gun doesn't hit the floor, sit in your pants or have to be otherwise removed. So front wise it's good, side mount is better - for me anyway. Those of you afraid to use a 'crotch holster' might want to try one this way. www.smartcarry.com
It comes with a 60 day money back trial. No, I'm not a salesman for the company. It's just that I have a box of holsters and was amazed what a little experimenting could accomplish. Maybe this method might help someone solve a problem with their carry.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Charlie,
Since moving the holster to this position, it has become my main carry. The Tucker is great but this suits me better right now. I did not see any mention of this type of use anywhere on your web site. It's possible that it is and I missed it - I'm getting old and miss a lot now! However even if it is mentioned, I 'd like others to be reminded of this option.
You've got a great product which I like before I 'experimented', but love now. The only thing I could suggest is that you make the back of the holster a little higher to put some fabric between me and the safety/rear of the gun. The gun is so perfectly padded and soft against the body except for that part which does allow the metal to hit my poor old tender skin. Do that and I order another!!!
Thanks for a great product!

(please do not use my name or email address as concealed means concealed !)Hi!
Been a while since I last emailed. I bought two of your holsters in left handed. Both are for Beretta's, one is a .32 Tomcat the other is for a .40 cal 9000s. I really love both of the holsters. They really work great!
Interesting thing happened this weekend (besides the blackout). I own a 2002 Honda Shadow Spirit 1100 Bike. I bought a intercom system for it which arrived Thursday sometime before all the power took a vacation. I needed to adapt the intercom to the bike fairly quickly as the Woodward Dream cruise was also this weekend and I wanted to use the bike to take my fiancé to it. This bike is a Harley style cruiser, which has NO space to mount stuff. Ta Da! Smart Carry to the rescue. The main box for the intercom just happens to fit into the pouch that my 9000s fits into on the holster with a bit to spare for the cables and the mag pouch is just right for the MP3 player that feeds music to the intercom! Plus, the elastic and Velcro waist band wraps nicely around the sissy bar and holds everything neatly in place. In a pinch I can even use it to carry my Beretta! ;-)
I may need to buy another holster just to carry my intercom, with a shorter waistband!
Anyhow, they are both holding up very well with the .32 getting the most usage.
Sure glad the blackout is over and the internet is back up. I don't think it was an accident however....
Hmmm,
D. D. - Clawson, MICharlie, you're the best!! Not only the best product I have tried, over a great number of years, But the customer service to back it up! Thanks for the remarkable fast e-mail response.

Webmaster note: J. F. complained about insufficient strapping length, said only about 1.5" of the Velcro® hook & loop was mating. With a 49" hip, our extra length strapping should have worked, but we immediately sent J. F. a custom A strapping length (fits hip circumferences up to 58") and included a SASE w/ the warranty replacement SmartCarry® so he can return the original holster.
Charlie, I’ve been carrying for the last week with the SmartCarry. I’ve got a large and thick handgun, and your holster is the best. No one knows I’m carrying this cannon of a firearm, and it’s so comfortable. I am in and out of my vehicle all day long, with lots of climbing and stooping. Having my gun with 10+1 bullets and 10 in the spare clip holder is so reassuring. I pick up and deliver merchandise in some seedy areas. One of our guys was even robbed once. They took his whole paycheck he had just cashed. (I deposit mine right when I get it.) Climbing in and out of a truck all day long is no problem with SmartCarry.
Please withhold my name.
C. P. - Salt Lake City, UTI just received my Smartcarry (only a few days after placing the order!). All I can say is – WOW! It is everything your website claims, and more. It is the only truly comfortable holster I have ever tried for “deep cover”, and can absolutely say that it is wearable and invisible under shorts and a tee shirt (a must for here in southern Louisiana).
Thanks again for a wonderful product!

place your order!Hiya, Charlie,
Got the holster today. immediately proceeded to put it on according to the instructions, and then threw my Beretta Cougar .45ACP in it. (unloaded.)
I print a little, but was able to easily cover that up by arranging the holster so the butt of the gun hit my beltline, and thus, was un-noticeable. (and its unnoticeable anyway, given that i wear my shirts loose, and not tucked in.)
Practiced in the house for an hour, and then loaded the gun, and headed out to do some errands. (which included going to the post office, a gas station, then over to a clients place to do some work there, amongst a few other things.)
Nobody noticed. Heck, *I* didn't notice for the most part, and forgot about it, whilst i was working.
Thanks so much. I'll be recommending your holster to all my buddies who carry. :)
Take care, Charlie!
C. S. - Twin Cities, MNCharlie-
You have so many pages of testimonials, you hardly need another. But I have to tell you how pleased I am with my new SmartCarry holster. It is utterly undetectable and so comfortable! I admit I was a little skeptical about the claims that you'll forget you're wearing it, but it's true. In the standing position I can hardly tell that I'm carrying my (admittedly lightweight) 38 S&W. It is a liitle more noticeable while seated, but heck I've only had it 2 days. I think with a little more experimentation I'll find the best way to position the holster while seated.
If anyone is looking for a holster for concealed carry, you will search the web and not find a better one than this. Thank you Charlie, for maybe saving some lives by making concealed carry so effortless for law-abiding cirizens. And if you make a nice living in the process you surely deserve it. Great product!!
T. Z. - Coral Springs, FlCharlie,
Thank you for your prompt and professional response to this issue. It is certainly a pleasure to do business with a company that fully backs and supports its products, as well as putting the customer's needs first. I have already promoted your product within our office based upon its design, comfort, and discrete application. This is just another reason I will continue to fully endorse and promote your product with all FAMs I have contact with, as well as any other person who has a need for your product. Keep up the good work, and I wish you nothing but continued success in your business.
Sincerely,
K. R. = Somewhere in NY
Webmaster's note: K. R.'s holster had a problem w/ the stitching in the firearm pocket and, as always, we sent him a warranty replacement w/ a SASE enclosed so he could return the defective holster for evaluation. "FAM" refers to Federal Air Marshal.Charlie
Just to let you know, I received the product yesterday and I am very impressed. I have tried it out with jeans, BDU's and shorts and it works great! Very comfortable, no printing of any sort at all. Very, very nice piece of work!
Thanks!
S. M. - Landenberg, PACharlie,
This is the best holster I have ever owned. I want to order another one with the same measurements and same pistol size. Same address. Do you need my credit card information again?
Thanks.
H. S. - Copperas Cove, TX
p.s. I gave mine to my friend to try out and he won't give it back.
place your order!Charlie, you did it! I'm sitting here wearing the holster / gun, and no person would ever know. For deep wear & forget concealment, smart carry is the holster.
Hey, if customers are lucky, their wives may walk up and "check" from time to time to see if they're armed!
Thank you for all of your personal attention. The buckle is perfect.
F. M. - Travelers Rest, SCWebmaster's note: The above customer has an paralyzed left arm due to a stroke some time back and can only use his right arm & hand. At his request, we built a special SmartCarry® with a buckle, purchased at an Army/Navy surplus store, attached to the elastic on the holster's left hand side with modified Velcro® strapping so he can feed the Velcro® through the buckle and pull it tight with his right hand/arm. From his comments above, it obviously works! We did have to charge him an additional $3.50, however, our cost for the buckle.
Charles,
We haven't chatted for a while. You may recall that I have the large holster for the Ruger P90 and wrote to you about the irritation from the strap in the holster. I found a great solution. While visiting my ortopaedic doctor, I noticed that they use a sock type material for casts. He gave me a strip about 3 feet long which I threaded the holster straps through and now I'm perfectly comfortable.
The holster works great and nobody is ever the wiser (I had a meeting with a police detective and he was none the wiser that my 45 was tucked away). Keep making these great holsters.
D. J. - Farmington Hills, MI
Webmasters note: We've added D. J.'s comments for any one who may have irritation problems w/ the strapping. Normally, it's over your undershirt but can be next to your skin, so here's an alterative method. D. J. has a Custom A strapping length, so he's got a lot more strapping than most users.Charlie,
It arrived in fine form Friday and I've got my pocket back!
I've been using a front pocket holster for some months. And while I like it, I missed having that trouser pocket available for other stuff.
It may also interest you to know that I spend a good deal of time in highland dress and the SmartCarry may be the only concealment holster which one can wear with a kilt. I guess I have a new answer for those who can't help asking what's worn under the kilt.
Best,
C. N. - Edmond, OKCharlie,
You don't need another testimonial but you're getting one anyway! This thing is great for both my Daewoo DP51C 9mm and my Charter Arms Undercover 38(not at the same time!). My wife often complained about the fact that occasionally part of my ankle holster would be exposed while in a sitting position. And there are times when the ankle holster isn't practical (such as wearing shorts or running around the yard with the grandkids, etc.). One thing that is for certain... any of the younger generation who wear their trousers just above their knees and their heads on backwards (or is that just their hat?) would be unable to conceal with the Smart Carry, and that qualifies as a GOOD THING in my book! :-)
Since concealed carry is not yet allowed in my state (one of the last hold outs), please withhold my name and state. But after we override the Governor's veto of our License to Carry Law in September (oops, did I give it away?), your business from this part of the county will probably pick up just from word-of-mouth. Great design, great quality, great customer service. I hope (and suspect) you're gettin' rich! You deserve it.
D.H. - From the home state of Governor "One-Term-Bob" (city and state with held per customer's request)Dear Charlie and Carolyn,
I purchased one of your SmartCarry holsters last month and want to tell you how happy I am with it. I have had continuous carry concealed permits in three states over the past six years, and often pack in crowded public areas such as shopping malls, theaters, and business offices where remaining undetected is absolutely essential. My preferred concealed weapon is my beloved Taurus CHULT Model 85 (a hammerless titanium 38 Spl. +P), and with the SmartCarry holster I can do so while wearing my conservative business suits, something I have never been able to do in the past (other than in my briefcase). I now can also carry my revolver when wearing only a pair of lightweight shorts and a tucked-in sport shirt, again something that I have never been able to do in the past. I find that wearing your SmartCarry in a cross-draw position just forward of the left front pocket works best for me when dressed in a business suit.
"Kudos!" for selling such a well-designed product! I own dozens of holsters, perhaps half of them have been used for some type of concealed carry, and none have performed so well or been so comfortable to wear as your SmartCarry!
Sincerely,

place your order!Charlie,
It has been hot this summer and the need to wear shorts is a must. The need to wear concealed is also a must. I have never been more happy with the smartcarry than on the 4th when I went fishing. It was very hot and I wore my shorts and my smartcarry. We were talking and fishing when the topic of concealed carry came up. The other 2 gentlemen were real upset that they couldn't carry because "it was not the weather in which you can carry". You have to wear shorts and a light shirt or tee shirt and there is no way to conceal a gun under these conditions. Boy were they surprised when I showed them my Kimber. They never even knew that I had a gun on me and were quite stunned that it was a 1911 Kimber Custom II. You will probably be getting a few more orders because they had to try it on and see for themselves. They couldn't get over the comfort of carry and that it was never in the way.
Thanks again for answering the phone and answering my questions. I wear it everyday. It is the most comfortable way to carry and the most concealable. And I still don't have any of those "I should have bought a different holster" stories. It is all I have even used or ever will need.
You came up with a gold mine with this product.
Still Happy,
D.T. - Amarillo, TexasHi Charlie,
I've got the medium size holster that I used for a Glock 26 (9mm.) Now I have Kahr PM9, same caliber but a bit smaller. Does the smaller holster fit the Kahr PM9 better?
Cya!
R. K. - Fairfield, OH"And yes I do love the product its everything you said and more!"
Webmaster's note: We told R. that he could use a safety pin to carry the smaller Kahr PM9, but the small size holster works better.Dear Charlie,
So this evening came the reality test. I have to say that I am REALLY impressed. I even tried the Smartcarry you sent with my big 1911 A1 (although I don't know if it is designed for the big .45). It is also invisible! No need to say the G30 for which my Smartcarry is suited remains absolutely unnoticeable.
Congratulation for your product, you've done a great job!
Regards,
Xxxx-Xxxx - Bad Aibling, GermanyCharlie, I received the holster, and I’ve been wearing it around the house. It’s very nicely made. I seem to notice it leaves less of a print when I wear it a little higher than you recommend.
My XD 40 is quite thick, and it feels better when the grip is right under where my beltline is.
It seems to be easier to draw as well. But that might be because I need to lose about 10 lbs! Ha ha.
I’m recommending your product to everyone.
C. P. - Salt Lake City, UTCharlie, I ordered my SmartCarry on 6-20-2003 and received it on 6-23-2003. That was quick work! I am wearing it now and it fits just fine. I will be wearing it a lot! It is very comfortable. Best investment I have ever made. I hope you and your wife are doing fine. May God look kindly upon you and your wife and grant you peace.
Best regards
